2. shud i be carryin more formals or casual clothes there
I would suggest you to bring more casuals than formals. Since there isn't any dress code :p, you can bring wat ever you like

3. what wud be the total expenses including everything per month in Rolla
Typically you share an apartment with 4 other students. So on an average you will be spending about $250 - $300 per month

4. i tried to contact ISA & its members, but no response
They are working hard making arrangements to provide pickups and temporary accommodations.

5. how do freshers find accomodation in Rolla
Members of India Association provide you with temporary accommodation until you find your apartment

6. i am from CS dept, could u gimme details of seniors from CS dept so that i can share some doubts like credits, clarifications on course details, books etc...
That particular section on the website is broken at this point. we will fix it soon (http://www.india-mst.com/content/view/30/41/).. In the mean time try to contact Mr. Ravi Akella at rcaq5c@mst.edu

7. what abt off-campus or on-campus jobs, how do students get them?
Off-campus jobs are illegal and we don't recommend going for them.
On-campus jobs... You can apply and find them after coming to Rolla

hey pankaj
1. its cold in winters and hot in summers. its snows during winters but not as much as in syracuse and other places. the temp drops down to -10 deg C sometimes. in summer the temp is around 30deg C. but the heat here is very different.. its dry as the humidity is low.
2.you wont need a lot of formal clothes.bring a formal suit for career fair and 2 shirts will be more than enough.
3.total expense comes out to be around 300-350 $ including everything.
4.temp accommodation will be provided by Indian Association until freshers find there own place.
5.its illegal to work off-campus but some students do work at motels. On campus there are some jobs but people usually get those jobs through reference for other employees. Research and Teaching assistanship  are the main source of income for any graduate student. people find some kind of assistantship from the second sem onwards... some of them get assistantship from the first sem also if they were already in talks with profs from india itself.
6.me mumbaikar ! ask me if you have any more questions.

whom did you try to contact?

Hi Pankaj,

Congratulations on your admission to CS @ MS&T

I'm from the same dept too Smiley

Well abt the credits, we need to complete 30 credit hours to graduate. Each course/subject is of 3 credit hours....so on a total we need to complete 10 courses. We have 2 levels of courses(300 level and 400 level). As an MS student we hav 2 options...Thesis/ Non-thesis. To graduate as a thesis student we need to complete a total of 4 400 level courses, 4 300 level courses and 2 research credits(which are again of 400 level). To graduate as a non-thesis student, we need to complete a total of 6 400 level courses and 4 300 level courses. So this about the credits.
Shud u hav any other doubts, feel free to ask.

Good Luck

With a Quick-Reply you can use bulletin board code and smileys as you would in a normal post, but much more conveniently.
